Welcome! Tonight heralds the first blogger news about the Deaf Club Sydney's news and happenings as events pass by.
FRIDAY 20th MAY 2011 - Club Burwood:
The Deaf Social Night at CLUB Burwood was attended by 84 people, which went very well.
We trialled the $4.00 price increase but it did not go well with some members of the Deaf Community, as a result yesterday at a meeting we decided to drop back to the old $2.00 price from now on and added the $5.00 new entry price that include two Keno games.
MONEY:
Q: What we can do with the money raised?
A: Once the event has been finished, we count the money then to record the amount in our income sheet. The monies are banked with Westpac that where we operate our account. We are registered with the Australian Taxation Office and have our Australian Business Number (A.B.N) as Taxation laws require us to do so for GST purposes.
We want to let you know that our committee members does NOT take the money out of the Deaf Club’s money boxes to buy drinks or anything for their own benefit as we are not allowed to do!!
STRATEGIC PLAN DAY:
On Saturday 28th May 2011, the Deaf Club Board had a Strategic Planning Day Meeting all day, which we all worked out to plan for the Deaf Club’s future from 2011 to 2014. The Strategic Plan 2011-2014 will be prepared and adopted on 1st July 2011, when the PDF document will be placed on our website and a limited print run of documents is to be proposed.
FUTURE COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
From now on and in the future, we will be selecting new committee members who have the right skills and past work experience in these fields. A Selection Criteria document will be developed and a resume outlining qualifications and skills sets will be needed if a new committee member wishes to join.
Requirements are mandatory under NSW Liquor laws for the committee roles are:
Ø Responsible Serving of Alcohol Certificate
Ø Responsible Conduct of Gambling
Ø Licensees
Ø Senior First Aid Course
We cannot have anyone who does not have the right qualifications skills to be on the committee. All of these current committee will be receiving training in 2012/2013 under the Strategic Plan. At this stage we are not taking any new committee members yet.
